ENVIRONMENTAL DATA LOGGER APPLICATIONS

The ELOG1 environmental data logger can be used for a variety of applications. The most obvious is meteorological monitoring. Below is an example showing the rapid drop in barometric pressure (BP) when hurricane Isabel came close to Lucid Technologies in the Fall of 2003.

The ELOG1 is intended primarily for indoor use, but this could be in a basement, attic, garage, barn, greenhouse, office, etc. This graph shows an indoor temperature from 9 in the morning till 9 in the the evening on a warm day. You can see the temperature rises steadily until 1200 when the air-conditioning cuts in. The air-conditioning then does a good job of keeping the temperature flat through the afternoon.

The ELOG1 can also be used for security monitoring. This graph shows the light intensity in an office during normal working hours. The fluctuations during the day are due to changes in exterior light coming in the window. Approximately two hours after closing, the room lights come on again - an unauthorized entry! The digital inputs can also be used to count door openings or monitor the state of windows.

The external analog inputs can be used to monitor any slow moving voltage signals; exterior temperature is one example. This graph shows the ELOG1's own battery voltage, recorded by the ELOG1, as the batteries reached the end of their life.
