The LP120 is a general purpose programming system intended for
technicians, hobbyists, and experimenters.
It was featured in the December 2000 issue of Nuts&Volts magazine.
The LP120 provides the basic hardware and software components found
in most device programmers. Programming-modules provide the unique
hardware required to program specific parts while the device driver
does the same for software. A host computer is required only as a
terminal and for ASCII file transfer.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
The LP120 communicates with the user via a terminal program, such as Hyperterm
or Procomm, running on the Host PC. No serial port available? Don't worry, a
USB-to-Serial-Adapter works just fine. Insert the Programming-Module for the
part you want to program then upload the appropriate device driver to the LP120.
Device drivers are stored as ASCII files on the host and execute from
RAM on the LP120. Next insert the part in the programming-module, check
that it is blank, upload the data file for the part, then program and
verify the part. The LP120 User's Manual is available for download on
the Data & Documentation page.
WHY SHOULD I BE INTERESTED?
The LP120 is platform independent so it will work with notebook PCs,
obsolete PCs, or PCs yet to be designed. There is no plug-in board so no
motherboard slot is required. The LP120 is operating-system independent
so it will work with CP/M, OS-9, DOS, Windows, Linux, MAC, etc.
With the LP120 you can design your own programming-modules and write your own device drivers. The LP120 Developer's Guide and freeware cross-assembler are available for download on the Data & Documentation page.
WHAT COMES WITH THE LP120?
With each LP120 (kit or assembled) you get:

WHAT DEVICES CAN IT PROGRAM?
Lucid Technologies is constantly adding to the list of available device drivers
and programming-modules.
If you don't find a particular device on the list let us know; or,
if you develop your own driver and programming-module,
Lucid can make it available via this web site and pay you royalties.
